On Friday, all the boys were working at the markets. Kevin B, Xavier, Shane, Kevin L, Harry (me), Hamish and Mark were working together.
We were selling pumpkin muffins made by Williams 4 and bliss balls made by my class (Williams 1). Wendy made jam and chilli sauce and orange-mango and mango-chilli rollups. Wendy’s chickens been lay some eggs and we sell them at the markets. We were selling pumpkin, watermelon and mulberry plants too.
Lots of teachers came and they were buying from the Garden Gang. The teachers were happy and they were proud of us.
We were feeling happy and excited when we see the customers. We felt like big kids. Wendy was helping us a little bit but we did the selling by ourselves. It was fun and we liked being the Garden Gang.
The Garden Gang is back! We have been a bit quiet for a couple of years because our school garden hasn’t been running. We will tell you more about that a bit later….
But now, I want to tell you about what we did on Friday at the Church; we brought the markets back!
Kids from across the school came together to help with the market. I wasn’t here when it used to happen but it was amazing to see the markets happening and everyone was excited and a bit nervous. I had butterflies in my tummy, but it was extraordinary to be a part of the markets.
We made pumpkin muffins and pumpkin dip in the classroom. Little kids made recycled paper and then big kids made them into cards that you can send. Then the person that you send them to can plant them in the ground and grow beautiful zinnia flowers.
Gapany was our first customer and then we had lots of other people that wanted to buy our amazing stuff. The kids were doing all of the selling and Wendy was helping us. She donated lots of homemade jams, chutneys and chilli sauces from her Fresh Batch range.
We had lots of fun and we will use the money that we made to make more stuff for bigger markets. Also, we will use it to support the Garden Gang and grow a beautiful new garden at the front of the school. Stay tuned for more news!

At the graduation dinner, the tables and all the decorations made by Ellemor kids and the FaFT ladies and Edi were so beautiful. Carol helped her kids to make beautiful flowers and also to put real flowers that they got from the garden on the tables. Ses and his class made a really flash banner with all of the Graduating kid’s photos on it. Caitlin’s class made a banner too and they made some more table cloths and helped to stick them on. It was so nice that all the classes and the FaFT mummies were helping us to get the Graduation ready.
At nightime, I was serving the people some food and some treats. They felt excited about the food and I felt proud to be doing that job. Some grade 5s from the other Ellemor classes were helping too and they were really good at that job.
Nic was helping too, he was working at the door and checking to see if the people had an invitation.
Then we started the speeches then we started giving the awards. All the kids from Ellemor 8 made speeches and they were really brave! Their families loved to see them speak like that.
After the awards, they went home and we helped Wendy to clean up. Lots of other teachers like Tony, Caitlin, Carol and Noella were staying behind and helping too. Everyone was so happy to work in a team.
It was an amazing night!

On Monday it was Wendy’s birthday . We were so happy for Wendy!
After lunch we made the Wendy’s cake. They were pink cupcakes. Faith made the chocolate cake at her house by herself and she put the Nutella icing on it and brought them to school for Wendy.
We asked Williams 4 and Ellemor 5 to come and have a party with us too and we were dressing up and dancing and having fun!
On the weekend I was making a dinner for Sharon because she has been working hard at ALPA shop.
Then we went to bed and Sharon was happy for the dinner.
Last week, Friday I presented a speech to the teachers to tell them that they did a great job helping and teaching us.
My speech was about all the wonderful things they have taught us and I put a very big THANK YOU in my speech because they have done a lot of things for us.
We don’t always understand why they teach us some of the things they teach us but in the future we will understand because we will remember from the past why they taught us those things. But mostly, teachers make learning fun and interesting and they make sure kids know why they are learning. Like in the garden, we know these skills will help us in lots of ways to grow food for our families at our homes.
So BIG Thank You to the teachers because the information we take in today will help us in the future.
My group also went all over the school and interviewed kids from every class. We asked them to tell us about a teacher they have right now, or someone they remember from the past, and what that teacher had taught them. We really enjoyed hearing all of their stories and remembering all the great teachers we have had. We made lots of posters to put up in the staffroom and share with the teachers.
Ellemor 8 kids cooked some cakes for the teachers and Tatiyana because it was Tatiyana’s birthday. There was lots of sweets for the teachers, the teachers had brought something with them.
